Crime Victim Compensation

Crime victim compensation is a government program that provides financial assistance to victims of violent crimes and their families. Every state has a crime victim compensation program, though benefits, eligibility, and application vary by state. Below are resources that may be of assistance:

• U.S. Department of Justice, Office for Victims of Crime (OVC) provides an online directory of Victim Services throughout the country. The OVC also provides information about victim assistance and compensation programs available across the US.
• National Association of Crime Victim Compensation Boards provides information on state-specific crime victim compensation programs.
• National Center for Victims of Crime is the nation’s leading resource and advocacy organization for crime victims and those who serve them.
• VictimConnect is a place for crime victims to learn about their rights and options confidentially and compassionately.
